Shawnee, South Stuffed This Week
J. C. Tilton

Both Twin Valley South and Preble Shawnee ran into buzz saw's this week. Twin Valley South traveled North to face league heavy weight Anna. In the words of Coach Meyer they were “awesome.” It was a one sided affair with South able to get some satisfaction when Josh Flynn scored in the final quarter. They also managed to move the ball to the Anna 1 yard line with seconds left in the game, but time ran out.

Despite the loss, Coach Meyer saw some things that he liked. He gave Josh Flynn some repetitions at quarterback and he responded by running the option well. With Spencer out for the season at running back due to injury, he was able to battle test Jeremy Bass and Chad Wentlender against a tough opponent. For the time being the running back duties will be shared. As a team they accumulated 147 yards rushing, not bad when you consider that this was against league leading Anna. Stats for South: Josh Flynn 7-79yds; Jeremy Bass 4-23; Chad Wentlender 5-19; Anthony Armstrong 12-7. Anthony Armstrong was 6-12 passing for 60 yards. Joe Maleski caught 3 for 38yds. Josh Flynn had 7 tackles - 2 for loss; Jared Precht who was playing with a fever, had 5 tackles.

Likewise Shawnee ran into perennial league contender Bellbrook last Friday. They were down 21-0 at the half. But they could not stop the Eagle's as they systematically moved the ball. Shawnee managed some yards in the air, but when the Eagles caught on, they turned the tables by getting some picks. Bellbrook would shut out Shawnee 37-0. Next week Shawnee takes on Valley View.
