Chelsea Bio Tech - Vanessa moving?
Topic: General
Chelsea's team had an easy night against Carlisle. They won easily. Despite limited playing time, she scored 8 points and was second highest scorer. Her post moves seem to be improving.

Went with Chelsea to CTC where they have a Bio-Tech program. I am not enthused with her leaving TVS and going to CTC, but she seems to have a genuine interest in this field and wants to get a 4 year degree in it. They seem to have a decent lab set up - and some of the courses are supposed to transfer as college credits. I told her that if this is really what she wants to do, then it is fine by me.

Vanessa's boyfriend Eric is trying for a management position at Home City Ice. If he gets transferred out of Dayton, Vanessa said that she would finish her quarter at Wright State and then find a school close to where he is working and transfer there to be close to him. Becky is not enthused, but I told her that it is best to travel while you are young.

Basketball/Birthday
Topic: Chelsea
Chelsea got into foul trouble early against Arcanum. She hit a trey and got a basket from the field. But her playing time was limited. She was disappointed. I think the team got behind and the coach decided to play the bench some. I told Chelsea that she was still one of the higher scorers for the game for TVS even with limited minutes, but that did not console her much. She really wants to work hard and get on varsity, but it does not look promising for this year. Becky tried to boost her spirits by getting her hair done. It looks nice.

Celebrated Vanessa's birthday this weekend. She stayed overnight and we ate fruit over angel food cake. We are all trying to watch our weight I guess. She has an easy class schedule this spring, so that should help her grade point average.

I think that Chad and Amanda are pretty much history. He is giving her one more last chance. Found out that he helped her out by getting gifts out of lay away. Sounds like he can kiss that money goodbye. Some lessons we learn the hard way...

Chels BB/school
Topic: Chelsea
Chelsea had a good night with the JV team. She scored 9 points - one of these from a 3 pointer. The team lost by like 7. I believe that the team is now 5-7. Due to injury and illness she got to dress for the varsity. Even though the Varsity game was blow out, she did not get in until about a minute was left in the game. Her moment for glory and she fell on her behind while posting in the lane! But she was just happy to have been chosen.

Her game seems to be improving. I let her watch a video of her in action. Her first reaction after watching the film was that "I run like a fat person." So she has working on her technique and she is indeed getting up and down the court faster and has been more intense on defense.

She also got a 95 in chemistry, a subject that she has been struggling with, so that was another positive. She wants to go to CTC to take some sort of science lab courses. I would prefer that she stay in TVS and take college prep courses. But she maintains that she can prepare for college just as well at the vocational school. I am dubious, but signed the paperwork since this is something that she really wants to do.

V apartment.
Mood:  happy
Topic: Vanessa
Vanessa finally got the apartment manager to fix her leaking roof and ceiling. The manager maintained that "I didn't know that the roof was still leaking." Did she think that the leak fixed itself?

Chelsea had a decent game - scored like 8 points. But the team lost in overtime 34-32 against Bethel.

Jan 3 Survived the holidays. We had a white Christmas alright - record snowfall came in on Wednesday and
Thursday. Poor Chad got off work at midnight and had to drive home in the snow storm. It took him
about 5 hours to get home. Got stuck 2 different times, but was lucky to get someone to pull him
out. Joe made an igloo by the front porch. I think the snow was officially 18 inches. Christmas
went OK, I think that everyone was satisfied with their gifts.

Jan 6 Had Joe give me a hand fixing the round bale feeder. It is a cheap one from TSC and broke. I had him grind
some of the rust off of it and cut some steel down to size on the bandsaw. He did a good job. As a reward
I let him weld a little with the acetylene torch - he did a good job, not bad for a first timer. Looks like
he will be good with his hands like Chad.
