TVS stopped by Trojans
J. C. Tilton

The Panthers hosted a tough Trojan team that is a bubble team for the playoffs. Arcanum has a shot at the playoffs if they win out. TVS just wanted to get back in the win column. A determined Panther team took the field on senior night. They moved the ball well the first possession. The offensive line was doing a good job at moving the Trojan defense back. But when you are in the middle of a losing streak, things just seem to go wrong . A holding penalty stalled the drive. Then when South went to punt, there was a miscue and the ball was passed downfield only to be intercepted and ran back. After 2 plays Arcanum went up 7-0.

Again South moved the ball. But the drive was sprinkled with penalties. Still they were able to reach the Arcanum 25, but on 4th and 10 they turned the ball back over to Arcanum. TVS played some good defense, but an untimely unsportsmanlike penalty allowed Arcanum to maintain momentum. The drive ended when TVS recovered an Arcanum fumble on their own 32. But TVS could not do much and finally punted to Arcanum who drove about 65 yards for a second TD. Arcanum tried to catch TVS off guard by doing an onside kick. But an over eager Trojan grabbed the ball before it reached the minimum 10 yards and TVS got the ball in great field position. But the Trojans held and TVS could not do anything on offense. Another Arcanum drive was stopped when Justin Flynn picked off a Trojan pass. Time was winding down in the second quarter and a TVS punt was blocked, putting the Trojans in good field position. They took advantage and managed to score just before the half, putting Arcanum up 21-0. If you take away the two mistakes on 4th down by the Panthers that were converted to TD's - Arcanum would have only had 7 points going into the locker room. In the second half, Arcanum continued to apply offensive pressure and build on their lead. South managed to get on the board with a Rehmert to Hickey TD pass. Caleb Betzner caught a pass on the 2 point try. That was all the points that the Panthers would score as Arcanum won 40-8.
