Football picks for 10/17/2003:

TCN hosts Bethel. Bethel is in the middle of the CCC conference this season. North is trying to garner enough computer points to make the playoffs. Last week they struggled without Wright in the lineup. He should be back, but with a broken finger. They need to win this game and their last one against Covington. If they are looking ahead to the last game the Bee's have a chance to upset. But I am going with North this Friday.

Dixie at Brookville. Brookville has been playing respectable football in this division. Dixie needs to rebound after last weeks loss. Dixie will have to play a solid, complete game to get the upset. I am going to lean towards the Blue Devils since they have home field advantage.

Valley View at Bellbrook. Bellbrook should be able to generate some points against Valley View, but can their defense respond to the challenge of stopping the potent Spartan defense. The Spartan D will need to be ready for a fast paced Bellbrook offense. This should be close game, but Valley View should win by a TD or more.

Preble Shawnee at West Milton. West Milton has not done well in their division, but did well in the first half of the season. But Shawnee has struggled the entire year. If Shawnee is going to get another win, this would be the game to do it. But the resurgent Bulldogs will go home with a victory.

TVS hosts Arcanum. Arcanum has a complete set of running backs that can move the ball. Plus their offensive line is moving defenders back. TVS has had a tough time shutting down teams with a strong running game. Could be a long night for TVS unless they catch Arcanum looking past this game.

Junior High football: National Trails 14- TVS 0. South threatened a couple of times, but fumbled to end one drive, the other drive ended late in the game on a 4th and 6 in Trail territory that could not be converted into a first down. Trail had a good sized offensive line and controlled the line of scrimmage.
