North & Dixie Fall on Friday
J. C. Tilton

North ran into a resolute Ansonia Tiger team. From experience, Ansonia is never a team to be taken lightly. The coach always seems to put a hard hitting team. The regulation time ran out with a 7-7 tie. Ansonia managed the victory in overtime, 14-7. North's sole TD was a run by Matt Zumstein. Next week North plays Arcanum, who will be smarting after their loss by 2 points to Covington.

Dixie had some early opportunities in their game, but could not convert them into points. One of these chances came from a punt where David Hubler fell on a fumbled football. Twice in 5 minutes Dixie was in the redzone, but came away with no points. The momentum swung over to the Mohawks. And Madison proceeded to move the ball well and in methodical fashion to build a lead that Dixie could not overcome. Eddie Bellman caught a 29 yard TD pass from Nick Miller and Tyler Wilson ran over 30 yards for the other TD scored by Dixie. Final was 33-14.

Coach Genslinger thought that the inability to finish early caused his team to lose confidence. “We need to learn to finish when we are in the redzone.” After the first two times in the redzone were turned away, he thought that Dixie lost their momentum for the remainder of the game. Although the team did finish strong with the second half TD's.

Dixie's trip through the SWBL does not get any easier as next week they play Waynesville.
