Tuesday Night Lights
J. C. Tilton

Well the varsity players have their Friday nights, but their younger counterparts on the junior high teams do their battles on Tuesday nights. This past Tuesday the North and South junior high teams did battle, with the 8th grade game taking place under the lights at North. The 7th grade game was anti-climatic with North scoring easily and cruising in the second half for a 30-0 win. The 8th grade game was a battle of unbeatens. The first half ended in a 6-6 draw. North scored first and South answered with a half back option pass from Tyler Leach to Stephen Balthis for their touchdown.

In the second half North had a drive that went all the way to the South 10, where a pass was intercepted by Stephen Balthis and ran back for a touchdown to put South up 12-6. The fans on both sides of the field were loud and emotions ran high as the two teams squared off in the last quarter. But South had a pair of fumbles in succeeding possessions that were recovered by North. They made good use of the short field - scoring on each of the South misques. John Belchar and Matt Dehart found the endzone for the North Panthers. North ran the ball in on their extra point attempts and were successful both times for a 22-12 victory. Comments:
