A New Team in Town
J. C. Tilton

In Clayton Ohio there is a new team in town. The two year old school, North West Dayton Christian, has fielded a junior high volleyball team as the first inter scholastic sports activity for this K-8 campus of Dayton Christian. The team was not a done deal until about 5 and half weeks ago. So at this time the team has only been able to pick up 7 games. They are currently playing against Association of Christian Schools International teams, but are playing by OHSSA rules and hope to play against OHSSA teams next season.

Facilities have been a problem for the fledgling team. Their school gym is tied up by day care until 6pm. So they are using the gym at a local church to practice in. This also means that the girls will be playing all of this seasons games on the road. A deal to sell the old campus of Dayton Campus has fallen thru, so there is a chance that the team will use that gym next season.

This years team is being coached by Lori Hallock. On September 10 the girls played their first game ever and defeated Xenia Nazarene 25-14, 25-19. Not bad for a team that has only been together for about a month. Players are: Ravyn Corbitt of Trotwood, Melanie Grey of Dayton, Melanie Hallock of Clayton, Rebekah Ivie of Trotwood, Dakota Lutz, Courtney Sakatis of Huber Heights, Jennifer Saul of Clayton, Amy Cole of New Lebanon, Marissa Wissenter of Dayton, and Becky Sharrock of Lewisburg.

This sports season the school is also planning on introducing boys and girls basketball, as well as girls and boys baseball.
