High School Football starts around the state on Friday, August 27th. Here are some games of local interest:

TVS at Dixie: Both schools are striving to improve last years records (1-9 and 3-7). Dixie has 8 or so seniors while TVS has only 2. TVS may have a slightly larger line, which could wear down the Greyhounds in the second half. In a close match up, you go with home field advantage - in a low scoring game, Dixie squeaks by - the margin of victory is a TD or less.

Greeneview at Brookville: Greeneview's head coach quit in August. So an assistant had to take over. So the team has had to deal with turmoil in the preseason, plus their recent record is nothing to write home about. Brookville has had a good run as of late, finishing with a winning record in the last 4 seasons. They return a lot of starters on both sides of the ball including most of their offensive backfield. Brookville wins easily by 14.

Valley View at Franklin: Franklin has a new coach, but they have had some budget problems and at one point it was doubtful if they would have fall sports. Thank goodness for pay to play. Still the players will need to learn a new system. Graduation riddled the ranks of the offense at Valley View. But they always seem to reload. Valley View by 21.

TCN: No official word from North at the time that this story goes to print. Preble Shawnee was to be their opener, but Shawnee has cancelled all fall sports. The North AD has been in contact with Newbury from the Cleveland area and Swanton from the Bowling Green area, but at last check no agreement had been reached with either school. So the North team may spend their first Friday night of the season in the stands watching Bradford.

Old Greyhounds wanted: Dixie is going to honor the Football players who played on the 1983 football team during halftime of the Dixie - Eaton game September 10. This team went 8-2 and won the SWBL. Players from this team should contact the Dixie AD at 687-1366.
