State Champs - Rivers and Overholtz!

Drew Rivers and Doug Overholtz capped their track careers by taking the First Place podium at the State Track meet held at Jesse Owens stadium in Columbus this past weekend. Drew Rivers placed first in the 800m run with a time of 1:54.2. Doug Overholtz was first in the Long Jump with a distance of 22' 1.5". Although Rivers had also qualified in the 1600m run, he decided to scratch this race so that he could focus on his specialty, the 800m run.

The TVS boys 4 X400 relay finished 4th at the state meet with a time of 3:27.73. The team consists of Caleb Betzner, Daniel Donaldson, Jobe Hickey, and Drew Rivers. Caleb Betzner also ran in the 110m hurdles, he placed 9th with a time of 15.32. Gabe Savage of TCN ran in the 1600m run, where he placed 13th with a time of 4:37.91. A familiar pair of pole vaulters qualified for the TVS Girls team. Molly DuChemin and Megen Maleski have been perennial attendee's at the state meet since the introduction of the girls pole vault as an official event a few years ago. Molly finished 4th with a vault of 10'6" and Megen finished 7th with a vault of 10' even.

The Boys Division III team winner was Jefferson with 40 points, TVS finished 16th with 15 points. The Girls Division III team winner was Minster with 47 points, TVS finished 35th with 6 points. Comments:
