Tigers Late Surge Ends Hounds Season
J. C. Tilton

The Dixie fastpitch team has had a successful season. Their record of 19 wins versus 3 losses is a testament to their success. Their win over Waynesville has them winning a share of the SWBL crown. And it looked like this success would carry over into the post season state tournament.

Dixie took a first round bye in the draw and Versailles won their game over Anna to advance to the second round. Dixie jumped out to 3-1 lead in the second inning. In their part of third inning Dixie increased their lead to 7-1. One of these runs was scored by Dunn who was caught in a hot box between third and home. She didn't panic and was able to escape and score in dramatic fashion. Dixie added another run the 4th inning. But now the Tiger bats began to wake up. In their part of the 4th the Tigers were able to tack on a couple of runs making it a 8-3 game. Still it appeared that Dixie was in command of the game.

But the Hounds seemed to get rattled in the late innings. They committed a number of errors and the Tigers had a number of timely hits to draw close and finally pass the Greyhounds. Dixie had the last at bat but couldn't catch the Tigers, finally falling 11-10.
