Diamonds are Full in West Alexandria
J. C. Tilton

Players from high school to grade school were taking advantage of the good weather to get outside and play a little ball. The High School teams were playing against Franklin Monroe. The boys had an easy go of it. Quickly racing off to a 10-0 lead, they made short work of the Jets. The team seemed to almost score at will. They loaded the bases, then emptied them. Scoring on basehits, and a passed ball. Kenny Branham was the winning pitcher and helped himself out with 3 RBI's. Earlier in the week freshman Wes Rehmert had a good outing, pitching his team to a victory over Ansonia. The girls had to work a little harder, but they were up at the time I left, although the Jets were trying to rally. Tessina Jackson had pitched well early, but was having control problems late in the game.

After watching the high school teams play, the next stop was to the WABO ball diamonds to see what was happening there. Several ball teams were getting their players ready for the upcoming games. The young kids were eager to learn as they attentively went thru their drills. The coaches were having a good time too - I think every one was just happy to be outdoors in the sunshine, no matter what the excuse.
