The TVS girls basketball just finished their most successful season in years. They had a 14-6 record. Players, Jennifer Davis and Amanda Moore made first team in the conference. Megan Maleski made honorable mention and Jessica McMurray made special mention. Finally Amanda Moore made the District 15 all-star team and will be coached in the all-star game by her home town coach - Darcy Robinson who was honored with being named coach of the year for the district. The team was anchored by 5 seniors Stacy Brubaker, Jessica McMurray, Megan Maleski, Jennifer Davis, and Amanda Moore.
I was able to snag 3 of the 5 seniors and wanted to ask them what they thought contributed to their success this year. A leader off the court as well as on the court Amanda Moore was open with her thoughts and her sentiments were echoed by Davis and McMurray. "It took a lot a dedication and time. In the summer time we had open gyms, camps, summer league. If you work hard it will just payoff". From following sports this season, that seems to be a familiar mantra - to be good, you have to work hard at your game in the offseason. When asked to give advice to the new players coming in, Amanda stated, "And for the 8th graders they just have to realize that it is different in high school, practice is so much harder and the coaches work you a lot more". Finally I asked if they had any regrets, "I wish we could have had a better season. I wish we could have worked harder maybe. We could have had another shot at some of them including Tri Village". The athletes may feel a little disappointed now, but it was the best season in a number of years and hopefully they have laid a foundation for future South players.
