Local Athletes Hoop it Up for Tartans
J. C. Tilton

The women's basketball team at Sinclair Community College has wrapped up a respectable season. The team plays other area junior colleges and is in the
Ohio Community College Athletic Association. The team finished the regular season with a 9-5 league record which put them in a tie for third place and was 19-12 overall.
The women also participated in the Region 12 District G Tournament at Kalamazoo, MI March 3-5. They won the first 2 games to make the finals before losing to Kellogg Community College in the Championship Game. Kellogg is currently ranked 8th in the
nation. Sinclair finished the season as the Region 12 Runner-Ups.

Two area players contributed to the success of this seasons program:

Jessica O'Dell - graduate of Tri-County North HS. 5'8" Guard - Freshman Basketball Eligibility. After coming off the bench at the beginning of the season, she ended up starting in 26 of 31 games.

Maria Brubaker - graduate of Twin Valley South HS. 5'10" Forward - Freshman Basketball Eligibility. Maria sat out the first half of the season due to volleyball commitment and joined the team in January. She appeared in 14 games off the bench and gave the team added depth at the post position.

These two players fit in well with the teams fast paced transition offense. Sinclair Tartan head coach is Jeff Dillon. Assistant is Rochelle Meinking.
