TVS Youth Basketball Squares off against Carlisle
J. C. Tilton

The South youth girls basketball program is enjoying continued success this season. They are playing an intense schedule in the Dayton Metro. Entering the days games against Carlisle, the 4th and 5th grades teams had only 1 loss while the 6th grade team was undefeated. However, the teams had been idle over the holiday break and had some cobwebs to shake off.

The 4th grade team took one on the chin, losing 6-20 in their game. Scoring for TVS was Hartley, Strazheim, and Walker - each of whom had a basket. Other players are Clark, Kreitzer, Rucker, Updike, and White. Likewise the 5th grade had problems getting their motor running and lost their game 19-8. Players on the team are: Emily Froment, Amanda Peace, Katherine Leach, Cheyenne Sarber, Nicole Ehler, Brooke Landon, Stevienne Williams, and Sierra Utsinger.

The 6th grade game was a low scoring affair in the first half. But the South team came out hot in the second half and won pulling away 22-9 to keep their undefeated record. Scoring for TVS: Waldren 1, Bingham 3, Gates 4, Philpot 5, Creech 3, Glander 3. Other players for TVS are: Pearson, Weigand, Perry, Burge.

The teams will be making a visit to the Miami Red Hawks in February where they will play at halftime of a women's basketball game.
